• This diagram explains how the United Nations, through the Joint UNEP/OCHA Environment Unit (JEU), supports governments in case of an environmental emergency. The JEU is available 24/7 to mobilise and coordinate emergency assistance to countries affected by environmental emergencies, and humanitarian crisis with significant environmental impact. Upon alert of an incident or request for support on disaster preparedness, the JEU will advise on immediate actions and, if necessary, mobilize support through its network of partners.
