DWM and Environment Experts deployed to Phillipines

The Joint UNEP/OCHA Environment Unit, together with partners, have deployed an Environment Expert and a Disaster Waste Management expert to the Philippines.

The Joint UNEP/OCHA Environment Unit and partners deploy Environmental Expert to support the Philippine humanitarian response.

Deployed by the Joint UNEP/OCHA Environment Unit and partners, an environmental expert arrived today in the Philippines to join the UNDAC team on the ground. The environmental expert will assess secondary impacts and undertake Environmental Assessments. Further, the disaster waste management expert- deployed through the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB Sweden) upon request following the earthquake in the southern Philippines- arrived in Bohol province to support disaster waste management and will be in close contact with the deployed UNDAC teams to coordinate efforts in disaster waste management into the relief operations.
