The long awaited brochure of the Inter-Agency Coordination Group for Industrial and Chemical Accidents has been finalized and is now available for download.
The Inter-Agency Coordination Group is an informal forum that brings together international organizations and institutions working on prevention, preparedness and response for industrial and chemical accidents. This publication presents the work of these entities, and discusses joint activities across the organizations.
The brochure elaborates on the group’s work, examining existing international tools and support for industrial and chemical accidents. It discusses tools from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), the European Union, UN Environment, the UN Environment/OCHA Joint Unit (JEU), the World Health Organization (WHO), the UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR), the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), and the European Process Safety Centre (EPSC). It then identifies current challenges, and ways to learn from previous accidents.
This publication is an exciting development in the field of industrial and chemical accidents, an area of increasing relevance in the twenty-first century. An online book version will be published shortly on the ISSUU page of the OECD here.
