The Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for certain hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in international trade regulates the transboundary movements of hazardous waste chemicals, specifically pesticides.
Parties to the Convention can request emergency assistance from the Secretariat in order to estimate the magnitude of damage occurred or damage that may occur. The Secretariat also helps find other entities in a position to give the assistance needed.
