GFMC Report – Vegetation Fires and Global Change

This report by the Global Fire Monitoring Center (GFMC) provides first-hand sources and information on the latest developments on the topic of wildland management.

The Global Fire Monitoring Center (GFMC), in its function of Secretariat of the Global Wildland Fire Network (GWFN), the Wildland Fire Advisory Group (WFAG), the International Fire Aviation Working Group (WFAG) and Interim Secretariat of the International Wildfire Preparedness Mechanism (IWPM), is providing tools for advising/supporting States and the United Nations in capacity building for wildland fire management and wildfire disaster risk reduction.

GFMC and the WFAG have solicited the inputs of a wide group of scientists to review the state of vegetation fires at global scale and to develop this report. The report provides first-hand sources and information for policy makers and actors of civil society, on the most pressing development in the global world of fire. The “Vegetation Fires and Global Change: Challenges for Concerted International Action” is the latest comprehensive analysis of the state of vegetation fires. The White Paper was published by GFMC and directed to the United Nations and International Organizations.
